Doug turned 30!

This past Wednesday, Aug. 22nd, my husband turned the BIG 3-0.  He handled it very well I must say.  More than I will...wait...I will forever be 29. :)
My mom made Doug this cake, I made the topper, and we celebrated a few weeks ago as a big family.

Then on his birthday Chance and I made him sugar cookies with icing and decorated the kitchen with a banner and Chance insisted we get party hats...so we did just that!! It was pretty low key considering Doug didnt get him til after 8:00 PM. (Life of a football coach) We enjoyed pizza and cookies and Chance and I sang Happy Birthday to him.  Oh and a few gifts.  :)

Wishing

This week would slow down.  Monday will be here before I know it and back to work I go.  I have been feeling very overwhelmed and nervous about going back...and quite frankly, sad.  I know this is what God's plan is for my life right now, to be a teacher.  It is just so hard being with your baby all summer and then in a blink back to school we go.  My amazing mom went to school with me yesterday and the day before and helped me get my room moved back across the school (unfortunately I have had to move rooms for the last 3 years, not fun).  She helped me organize and put up cute bulletin boards while Chance was such the little helper, made messes.  :) I feel so much better.  I said all summer I wouldnt go up to school until I had to but knowing my room is ready organized I can breathe a little better.
I am going to miss our mornings drinking coffee together (his is orange juice)
building tents after nap time and hide from Daddy when he comes home

But I know he is in good hands when I go back to work.  :)
He is getting to be such a handsome little fellow.  The other day I said you are such a cute little boy and he said "Momma I not a boy"  I said what are you and he said "I a monkey"  Yes, son you are...

Tuesday Thoughts

After going up to school today - seeing the changes for the new year, new room, some new faces...the work I have to do when I get back before the first day...this picture pretty much sums up how I am feeling right now

Boo-Boo's/Early Celebration

A few weeks ago Doug, Chance, my Dad and brother went golfing.  Chance wanted to drive the golf cart and wasnt being the best listener, ha! Not Chance? Our precious 2 year old!? He pushed the peddle and he rammed his golf cart into Dale's and fell forward (he will tell you he fell backwards) and hit the sterring wheel and got him a pretty good boo boo on his face.

It looks like a burn and this face is pathetic.  He is really a tough little boy.  He never once complained about it hurting but he wouldnt let me take a picture of it either.

Over the summer I found somewhere on pinterest to get beans and put them in a tub and let your toddler play with them.  Chance played for 2 hours the first day putting them back and forth from tub to tub and counting scoops and putting the beans in baggies and playing with his trucks in them....
but then the monster in him did this....

Not a fun clean up...

We went out for an early birthday celebration for Doug last night since Robin and Kyle were in town.  I meant to take more pictures but we had the worst service at Red Lobster (since I use to wait tables for RL for 5 years I have high expectations I know, but wow).  Waiting with a 2 year old who can only sit still for short periods of time the waiting seemed a lot longer.  But we always have a good time when we are with family.  My mom made Doug his favorite cake (Italian Creme) and I made a little topper.  (Pics of that to come after being uploaded.)
Chance was not in the mood for pictures.

2 1/2 year check-up

Chance had his 30 month check up last week.  We didnt find out anything new...we already knew he was a tall, skinny little boy.  He weighs 29 lbs and is 37 inches tall.  He had grown 2 1/2 inches since January.  He is in the 50th percentile on weight and 75th in height.  The dr. says he is right on track developmentally and that is music to his momma's ears.  He knows his colors, can count to 10 and 3 in spanish and can sing his ABC's (he skips a few, ha!), he can hit the fire out of a baseball and golfball, loves to swim and his a sweet tooth just like his momma.  I took this picture yesterday after my run/bike ride.
I immediately ordered this picture in an 11x14.  Love.
He starts to pre-school/Mother's Day out in the fall.  His Nana already got him the cutest backpack and he LOVES it.  Here he is trying it on.
He is just so stinkin cute I cant hardly take it. :)  Thank you Nana for the backpack.  It is perfect.  (she got it off Pottery Barn Kids)
He wore it around for awhile.  He even watched tv and played his homemade drum set with it on.  (cheapest, most fun toy he has lately are these mixing bowls and stir sticks that he calls Drums. ha)
Momma and Chance after his nap one day.  We are in the works of changing his crib to a toddler bed.  If I could only find the instructions...the story of my life.  Finding things I know I kept. :(
Happy Tuesday!

Bunch of Posts in One

I have been really bad about not blogging this summer.  Guess I am busy soaking in every minute with Chance.  When he takes a nap I have been taking one myself. :) or laying down watching my shows. I better stop doing that since I will have a really hard time once school starts back.
Things we have been up to the last couple of weeks:
1) My BFF Ashley came to stay with us a few days.  We had a blast and I wish she lived next door.  We talked til late talking and catching up, went to dinner, watched Chance most of the day.  He is quite the entertainer.  Thanks for coming to stay with us Ash.  We sure did love having you here.
2) Doug and I took Chance to the jumpy place here in town.  Chance had a ball. They had these old timey cars you could play in.

 3) We went to Coaching School in San Antonio.  We go every year.  My mom and I love to go and walk around in the convention center and as our husbands talk to other coaches...we shop for T-shirts.  Our favorite booth is Barefoot.  We buy new shirts every year.  I bet I have 25 different shirts from over the years.  Then we always meet up with some other coaches wives for lunch and we sit for hours and talk.  This year we had two 2 yr. old little boys that we had to chase.  But they had so much fun.
In the convention center there was a booth with this 250 lb contrete ball.  The man that was selling the product (which was the flooring for weight rooms) was yelling so loud we couldnt help stop.  The man was trying to convince other coaches to lift this ball.  If they got it to their knees they won a free shirt, if they lifted it to their shoulder's they got a shirt and hat.  He was quite the salesman.  Chance got a free shirt for being cute and pretending to lift the ball.  :)
Chance and Jackson (They are one month and 7 days apart)
Here is Jackson's mom, Sloan and I
Mom and Kathy - been best friends for YEARS.
We had an eventful day.  At lunch we sat on the riverwalk outside, upstairs.  Well the boys were playing in this little waiting area and their little bitty NERF ball rolled off the ledge.  Well...it hit a lady underneath in the head.  Let's just say the woman wasnt very nice and came and threw the ball at us and proceeded to make a scene.  It was not fun.  I hope later she realized how much she overreacted.  Way overreacted.  I was very upset to say the least.
4) We went back to the drive thru zoo in New Braunfels.
5) We met Ashley and her family at Schlitterbahn for a day of fun.  Ashley's sister is dating a guy that has a sweet little boy named Gage.  He came too.  Chance and I went earlier this summer and he wasnt fond of it but this time he went down all the slides and had a great time.  I was EXHAUSTED.  Carrying a two year old back and forth and everywhere at the parks is tiring.  He kept saying "hold you Momma"  Who can resist that.  I tried to brib him with dip and dots but he didnt want to walk.  I honestly didnt either. ha!
6) Coaches Get Together/Shimp Boil - We had to take family photos for the programs.  Hoping the photographer's is better than this one.
It's really neat because at the home we were at they have horses the kids can ride.  I even rode one this year. :)
My little cowboy.  He is getting so big.  He kept sayin "hee - yah" over and over.  So funny.  Then he was telling everyone how the horsey was coughing.  This boy is dramtic at times.
and of course...I brought my chair and these two stole it. :)
7) Lastly - my mom and I went to Ashley's parents this weekend for an Arbonne party.  We had a really good time and cant wait to start using the skin care products.  More on that later.
This was before the coaches party and I had to SCRUB his face because the blue dye stained his face!!
Sorry for the long post...I was really behind.  We are trying to re-group after 2 really busy weeks.  Two a Days started this morning for the coaches.  Football is in full swing.  :)
